U.S. Captures Guns And Ammunition ‘Destined For Houthis’ – Sends It To Ukraine

The U.S. government has transferred thousands of guns and rounds of ammunition to Ukraine after seizing them from ships apparently bound for Yemen.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said it seized the weapons late last year as they were allegedly being transported from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

Some 5,000 AK-47s, machine guns, sniper rifles, RPG-7s and more than 500,000 rounds of ammunition were discovered.

CENTCOM said they have now been transferred to Ukraine to help it defend against Russia’s invasion.

“Iran’s support for armed groups threatens international and regional security, our forces, diplomatic personnel, and citizens in the region, as well as those of our partners.” it said.

“We will continue to do whatever we can to shed light on and stop Iran’s destabilizing activities.”
