How Obsolete Equipment, Manpower Shortage Affect Nigerian Army’s Operational Efficiency In War Against Insecurity – Infantry Commander

Commander of the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps, Major General Olufemi Oluyede, has said obsolete equipment, manpower shortage and insufficient welfare have affected operational efficiency of the land forces in the fight against insecurity.

General Oluyede, who spoke at the General 2024 Combat Arms Training Week held at the Infantry Corps Centre, Jaji Military Cantonment in Kaduna State, however, commended the purposeful leadership of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, in addressing the challenges and repositioning the Army to defeat current and future threats.

Oluyede also noted significant progress in that regard.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff has assured troops deployed on various battlefronts that they will receive the highest benefits in recognition of their sacrifices in defending Nigeria.

Addressing officers and soldiers at the opening of the General 2024 Combat Arms Training Week, Lagbaja emphasised the importance of professionalism, lawfulness and loyalty to the constitution in discharging their duties.

He stressed the significance of successful training at all levels for achieving victory in battle and urged troops not to withhold any ideas or suggestions that could enhance combat capabilities.

Under his leadership, General Lagbaja reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to engaging with stakeholders to ensure troops receive deserving benefits aligned with their daily sacrifices.
