Defence Minister Badaru In Katsina, Visits Frontline Troops, Pledges President’s Support In Fights Against Terrorism, Equipping And Training Military

Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has visited frontline troops in the war against terrorism and banditry in Katsina State, assuring officers and men of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to equipping and training them to enhance combat readiness against insurgency, terrorism and banditry.

Speaking to troops of Operation Hadarin Daji at 213 Forward Operating Base, Katsina, Badaru acknowledged President Tinubu’s “significant successes in the fight against insurgency and related crimes,” urging them to continue the frontline fight against insurgency, terrorism and banditry, just as he commended their sacrifices and commitment.

Regarding the recent incident involving the killing of soldiers in Abia State, the Minister reassured of the government’s determination to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent such incidents from happening again.

Air Commodore G.I. Jibia, Commanding Air Component, 213 Forward Operation Hadarin Daji, appreciated the Minister’s visit, stating that it would boost troop morale.

According to a statement on the visit by the Ministry of Defence Director of Information and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike, the Defence Minister earlier held an interactive discussion with officers and men of the Headquarters of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army and Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadarin Daji, Katsina, to assess their preparedness in responding to insecurity threats in the region.

Badaru also visited the Nigerian Army Medical Centre, Katsina, where he sympathized with military personnel injured during combat operations.

At the Katsina State Government House, the Defence Minister reassured the government and people of Katsina State of the Federal Government’s unwavering support in the fight against insurgency and banditry.

Reiterating President Tinubu’s commitment to securing Nigeria from all forms of insecurity and threats, the Minister also stated that the Ministry of Defence will partner with other security agencies to restore security to the State towards ensuring a peaceful farming season.

Governor Dikko Umar, represented by Deputy Governor Alh. Faruk Lawan, commended the Minister’s commitment to ensuring adequate security for Katsina State and Nigeria.

He thanked the Minister for his tireless support in ending insecurity in the State.
