Terrorists Kill Deputy Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto

The Deputy Vice Chancellor of Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Professor Yusuf Sa’idu, has been killed by terrorists.

He was shot dead along Kucheri in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, on Monday afternoon.

Professor Sa’idu, who was the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Development of the university, was a Professor of Biochemistry and hailed from Niger State.

One of his colleagues, Dr Bello Arkilla, described him as very religious and humble.

“Even this morning, I was in his office and I was told he traveled,” he said.

The university, which made Saidu’s death known in a short statement on its Facebook page, on Monday, said the deceased was attacked and killed by terrorists on his way to Kaduna from Sokoto.

The statement read, “The death has occurred of Prof. Yusuf Saidu, the current Deputy Vice Chancellor Research Innovation and Development Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto.

“He was attacked and killed by bandits on his way to Kaduna from Sokoto State. A man of integrity, religion, dedication and courage.

“May Allah accept his soul and forgive his sin but this is a painful loss to all members of the University community and the Academia at large.”
