Ohanaeze Ndigbo FCT Hails Umahi On Birthday, Says He’s A Trailblazer, Mr Infrastructure

Minister of Works and former Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr David Nweze Umahi, has been described as a trailblazer and an achiever who has broken many grounds in many areas of endeavour.

Leader of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja chapter, Nze (Barr) Ifeanyichukwu Obasi-Nweze, told journalists in Abuja that he has followed the trajectories of the Minister from his days as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State and through his exceptional leadership quality he emerged the Chairmen of the 36 States and FCT from there to Deputy Governor and Governor and now Minister of the Federal Republic.

According to Nze Obasi-Nweze, the Minister has shown in all ramifications that he is a great achiever who continues to break records anywhere he finds himself.

“With what Engr Umahi has done in just one year as Minister of Works plus what he left behind in Ebonyi State, he qualifies to be called Mr Infrastructure. Until Umahi became Governor, Ebonyi State capital, Abakaliki, was one of the least developed State capitals in the country. But today, after such massive infrastructural development under Umahi, the State capital has become a model city to behold.

“There are significant projects he left behind in the State – the Cargo Airport, improved school structures, the upgraded facilities of the Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki and the outstanding world-class University of Medicine for his home town Uburu.

“A relatively remote State capital of Abakaliki was transformed into a city with many flyovers comparable only to great cities like Abuja and Lagos.

“As a Minister for just one year, Engr Umahi has shown his uncommon drive to serve as he has made the country a construction site with projects all over the place.

“Under his watch, the Coastal Super High Way is going on from Lagos through many States to Calabar the Cross River state Capital.

“Across the country, the following roads are presently under construction Ado – Ijan Road and Ado – Ikere – Akure Road in Ekiti State, Bende – Ohafia – Arochukwu Road in Abia State, Lokoja – Okene Road in Kogi State, Abuja – Kaduna -Zaria – Kano Road, Markudi – Otukpo -Obollo-Afor – 9th Mile Road, Enugu -Abakaliki Road amongst others.

“And more importantly to this writer, since all politics is local, Nkalagu – Eha-Amufu – Ikem Road which has had the Ebonyi bridge since after the Nigerian Civil War. Ndigbo in FCT is very proud of him and happy with him and wishes to use this medium to celebrate him on his 61th birthday.”
