Biafra: There Would Have Been No War If You Had Prosecuted Those Who Killed The Igbos, Dr Sam Amadi Tells Gowon

The Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, Dr Sam Amadi, has said that former Military Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, could have prevented the Nigeria-Biafra civil war if he had prosecuted those who killed Igbos.

Dr Amadi, a former chairman of Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), also condemned the decision of General Gowon his colleagues for failing to act decisively back then.

Amadi, who spoke via his X account, noted that the former Nigerian leader failed to act on behalf of the rule of law.

According to him: “The war came out of Nigeria’s faulty identity-based politics, which led to mass violence against Igbos.

“If Gowon and his colleagues had acted decisively on behalf of the rule of law and openly prosecuted those who killed Igbos, there would have been no demand for secession and no war.

“He was neither a great leader nor a grave villain. He was a rookie stooge of grossly incompetent and hegemonic leadership that walked Nigeria into a stupid & avoidable civil war.

“He’s RESPONSIBLE for GENOCIDE but did not WILL it.”
