Nigeria To Partner Pakistani Govt To Improve Agricultural Production – Minister

Minister of State for Agriculture and Food security, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, said that Nigeria will collaborate with Pakistan to explore areas of possible partnership in order to boos agricultural production.

Dr. Abdullahi, who spoke when the High Commissioner of Pakistan, Major General Sohali Ahmad Khan (rtd) visited him in Abuja recently, pointed out that both countries have a cordial relationship and a lot in common.

The Minister therefore stressed the need for both countries to work together and develop each other, stating: “Nigeria is ready to partner with all our friends, by creating something that would work for the two countries.”

Senator Abdullahi further stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was also working hard to see what he can create to tackle the issues of insecurity due to climate change.

Similarly, the High Commissioner of Pakistan revealed that the essence of the visit was to offer solutions and learn from Nigeria.

In his words: “We are looking at offering you ways and means through which Nigeria can have their capacity building.”

He said Pakistan would like to share training and expertise in terms of research and innovation where professionals from Nigeria will come to Pakistan and see for themselves things that will be of interest.

Tracing some of the achievement Pakistan has made in Agriculture, the High Commissioner said Pakistan is the 5th producer of cotton, 4th producer of sugar, 8th largest producer of meat, 10th largest producer of rice in the world and this made the country to stand out as the 10th largest producer of these agricultural products.

He noted that Pakistan has done well in terms of research and innovation, calling on the Minister to join his hands and move both countries further.
