ANCISRO Seeks To Inspire Socio-cultural Renaissance in Anambra – Nnabuife

Anambra State government through the administration of Prof Charles Soludo is out to address the decline of societal values and civic responsibilities, with the establishment of Anambra State Civic and Social Reformation Office (ANCISRO).

The Managing Director of ANCISRO, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, gave the assurance during an outreach at Awka on Monday.
He regretted the decrease in communal values and pointed out the consequences to the society. He as well revealed the importance of law, order and patriotism in achieving a livable and prosperous homeland.

He said: “The way we are going, we cannot achieve a livable and prosperous homeland if we continue without law and order and keep ignoring our civic responsibilities. An ultimate greatness depends on these.”

He stated that Governor Soludo established ANCISRO on September 1, 2024 to inspire and instill values among Ndi Anambra, and that it is a social orientation unit within the Governor’s office , dedicated to promoting cultural values, indigenous language and civic engagement, using communication channels accessible to all.

He said: “ANCISRO seeks to inspire a sociocultural renaissance that will make Anambra a land of great, happy people. Through education and mobilization, we aim to align citizens and the government for the good of the state.”

Nnabuife continued by saying: “Our society values may never have dropped as low as we are witnessing currently. The failure of citizens to perform basic civic duties such as keeping their homes and environments clean or paying taxis, is alarming.”

He admonished and stated clearly that the neglect of orderliness and neighborly concern leads to societal disasters like the recent stampede recorded across the nation, recently.

In his Keynote Address, Barr Akachukwu Maduakonam extolled the state shared values of hard work, integrity and respect which he stated that are very crucial for societal development.

He described Governor Soludo’s free education policy as an important step in addressing the challenges posed by the state strategic location as a cross road for  neighboring communities and commended hum.

He said; “Anambra is uniquely positioned, but this brings both opportunities and challenges. To achieve prosperity, we must harness our shared values and ensure they reflect in our daily lives.”

Maduakonam continued by explaining the relationship of these values to the Christmas season; the time for reconciliation, sharing and goodwill.

The Deputy Director of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Anambra State Directorate, Mr Chinedu Okwelogu stressed the significance of avoiding societal pitfalls through strategic planning, education and collaboration with the agency.

On his part, the Managing Director of the Anambra State Waste Management Authority (ASWAMA), Sir Mike Ozoemena had these to say: “The establishment of ANCISRO marks a significant step in Governor Soludo’s administration’s efforts to restore the societal values, foster civic responsibility and create a prosperous and livable Anambra state.”

He encouraged ANCISRO to remain steadfast.

Also speaking, Veteran Journalist Sir Victor Agusiobo urged ANCISRO to lead by example especially within government institutions even as he called for a collective reorientation effort.

Highlights of the event included Christmas carols among other happenings.
