By Yemi Shola, Bauchi

Northern Labour Party stakeholders has declared that Nigerians are groaning under the harsh reforms and policies of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government.

The Northern LP stakeholders told journalists in Jos at a conference on the debate over the ongoing tax reforms bills pending before the National Assembly that “as an opposition political party, it is our duty to objectively assess government policies, criticize where necessary, and proffer constructive solutions aimed at promoting the well-being of Nigerians.”

The Chairman of Labour Party, Northern Stakeholders Forum, who spoke at the conference also declared support for Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir’s criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Tax reform and other policies.

The group declared its solidarity with the Governor in his objective criticisms of Federal Government’s policies that have adversely affected the masses.

Noting with “appreciation that Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has consistently demonstrated a balanced approach in his engagements with the federal government,” the Forum added: “He has commended the administration of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on several occasions when his policies align with the interests of the people. A recent example was during the Governor’s visit to Itas Gadau Local Government in Bauchi State, where he applauded Mr. President’s livestock development policy.

“To further show his solidarity and support for this laudable initiative, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed took a groundbreaking step by creating the Ministry for Livestock Development in Bauchi State. This ministry underscores the Governor’s commitment to advancing the President’s vision for sustainable livestock management while addressing local needs.”

The Forum added that,”However, it is our collective responsibility to also point out where the government falls short. The recent tax reforms and certain economic policies introduced by this administration have placed a disproportionate burden on the poor and middle class. These measures have worsened the cost of living, stifled small businesses, and widened economic inequality.”

According to the Forum,”Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s critique of these policies is a clarion call for the federal government to reconsider and adopt more inclusive and equitable approaches to governance. His balanced stance-offering both commendation and criticism-sets an example of constructive opposition that prioritizes the interests of the people.”

The Forum stressed that, “As Northern Labour Party stakeholders, we fully align ourselves with Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed’s objective views. We urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration to heed these concerns, revisit their policies, and work toward reforms that uplift all Nigerians, not just a privileged few.”

It stressed that, “A government must prioritize the well-being of its citizens by adopting empathetic, transparent, and equitable measures. We, as a political party dedicated to social justice and equity, remain committed to supporting initiatives that foster inclusivity while holding the government accountable.”

It concluded stressing that, “We applaud Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for his leadership and balanced perspective. We call on all Nigerians, irrespective of political affiliations, to join us in advocating for a government that listens to the people, addresses their challenges, and ensures prosperity for all.”
