US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US Vice-President JD Vance were locked in a series of tense exchanges at the White House. Donald Trump dressed down the Ukrainian leader and said that the latter is “gambling with World War Three” as the two met at the Oval Office ahead of signing the resources deal which will give the United States access to rare-earth and other critical minerals.
The deal is part of an overall plan to help Ukraine recover after a truce in the war with Russia.
What Happened During Donald Trump- Zelenskyy Meet
Donald Trump told his Ukrainian counterpart that a truce with Russia is “fairly close” and that the deal allowing US exploitation of Ukraine’s natural resources would be “very fair.”
During the meet, Zelenskyy asked US Vice-President if he’s been to Ukraine “to see our problems” to which JD Vance replied that he’s read about it and seen it.
The US will also eventually feel the consequences of the war, Zelenskyy replied following which Donald Trump interjected and said, “Don’t tell us what we’re going to feel. You’re in no position to dictate what we’re going to feel.”
Reprimanding Zelenskyy, Donald Trump said, “We’re going to feel very good and very strong.”

Donald Trump also said that he is responsible for the peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. He said, “If I didn’t align myself with both of them [Russia and Ukraine], you’d never have a deal. I’m not aligned with Putin, I’m not aligned with anybody. I’m aligned with the United States of America.”
Donald Trump Says Zelenskyy ‘Hates’ Vladimir Putin
The US President chided Zelenskyy as he said that the Ukrainian leader has “tremendous hate” for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“You want me to be tough, I can be tougher than any human being you’ve ever seen… but you’re never going to get a deal that way,” he said.

At the end of the meeting, the US President said that Zelenskyy has not been “very thankful” to him and the United States and that “this is going to make great television.”
