The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General Folusho Oyinlola, on Friday undertook an Operational tour to Wase, Sector 2 Area of Responsibility, meeting with stakeholders in quest for sustenance of peace in the area.
A statement by the Media Information Officer Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major Nantip Zhakom, said that on arrival in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, General Oyinlola commenced his tour with a visit to the Emir of Wase, His Royal Highness Alhaji Dr Muhammadu Sambo Haruna.
In his remarks at the Emir’s Palace, General Oyinlola stated that the purpose of his visit was to seek the support of the traditional institution in the fight against banditry and other forms of crime within Sector 2 Area of Responsibility.
He further commended the traditional institution for their support and synergy with OPSH. The Commander assured the Emir of troops’ readiness to continually sustain the tempo of operations in the protection of lives and property within their AOR.
In his response, the Emir thanked the Commander for finding time to visit his Palace and thereafter commended OPSH for their dedication to duty which has brought the relative peace presently enjoyed in the general area. In his words, “security challenges such as kidnapping and banditry have reduced drastically.’’
While wishing the Commander a successful tour of duty, the Emir assured of the continuous support and cooperation of the traditional institution with OPSH and the Nigerian Army.
Furthermore, General Oyinlola visited the Headquarters of Sector 2 OPSH and was received on arrival by the Sector Commander, Colonel OP Osuntuyi. The GOC was briefed by the Sector Commander on the Operational activities of the Sector.
Additionally, General Oyinlola addressed the troops of the Sector, charging them to continue to sustain the tempo of the operation while maintaining discipline.
He also lauded the troops for their dedication and commitment to duty, and thereafter assured them that their welfare and required logistics would be enhanced in order to boost their operational capability.
The high points of the visit includes inspection of quarter guard, presentation of brief, presentation of souvenirs and group photograph.
