Defence Space Administration To Collaborate With 3 Division And Operation SAFE HAVEN For Enhanced Military Operations

The Defence Space Administration (DSA) has pledged its full support and collaboration with 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) to bolster military operations within their area of responsibility.

Chief of Defence Space Administration (CDSA), Air Vice Marshal Lanre Oluwatoyin, in his maiden operational visit to 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Jos on Wednesday May 7, 2025, commended 3 Division and OPSH for their dedicated efforts in maintaining peace and stability in the region.

AVM Oluwatoyin, while acknowledging the complexities of internal security operations, emphasized the importance of neutrality for security agencies while fulfilling their constitutional duties.

“We are here on the directive of the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) to familiarize you with the services we render to military formations in support of their operations across the country,” he stated.

He highlighted the challenges posed by the country’s vast landmass, making it difficult for security agencies to effectively cover all areas; which necessitates the use of technology to monitor ungoverned spaces.

“To address this, the CDS has directed the establishment of Earth observation stations in military formations across all geopolitical zones. By establishing these centers, we will bring the DSA to your doorstep, enabling us to support your operations in your AOR,” the CDSA added.

As part of the visit, there was a presentation detailing the specific services offered by DSA to support military operations, along with a question and answer session.

Responding, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding 3 Div and Commander OPSH, expressed his gratitude to the CDSA and his team for the visit, acknowledging the potential benefits of DSA’s capabilities, particularly in providing topographical maps, satellite imagery, and real-time surveillance.

“We are honored to have you with us today, and we are looking forward to any support DSA could render to enhance our operational effectiveness,” stated Major General Oyinlola, expressing optimism about future military operations within the joint operating environment.

The visit concluded with a presentation of souvenirs, the signing of the visitors’ book, and a group photograph.
