TCN’s Installation Of Optical Ground Cable On Ikeja West/Akangba 330kv Line 11 To Cause 9-hour Power Disruption On Agbara, Otta, Abeokuta

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that the installation of an optical ground wire (OPGW) cable on the Ikeja-West/Akangba 330kV Transmission Line 2 will cause a nine-hour electricity disruption for electricity consumers in Agbara, Otta, and Abeokuta.

A statement by TCN General manager (Public Affairs), Ndidi Mbah, said that the scheduled installation will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 9 am to 6 pm.

Stating that “this installation is part of efforts to rehabilitate the nation’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system,” Mbah noted that “during this period, bulk power transmission to Ikeja, Eko, and Ibadan Electricity Distribution Companies will be temporarily affected,” hence the a nine-hour electricity disruption for their customers in Agbara, Otta, and Abeokuta.

The full statement reads: “The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announces that the installation of an optical ground wire (OPGW) cable on the Ikeja-West/Akangba 330kV Transmission Line 2 is scheduled for Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 9 am to 6 pm.

“This installation is part of efforts to rehabilitate the nation’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.

“During this period, bulk power transmission to Ikeja, Eko, and Ibadan Electricity Distribution Companies will be temporarily affected, resulting in a nine-hour electricity disruption for their customers in Agbara, Otta, and Abeokuta.

“TCN regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the understanding of affected electricity customers.”
