The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has neutralised more than 20 terrorists and destroyed a meeting point in Bula Madibale, Gezuwa general area of Sambisa forest in Bama LGA in Borno State.
The airstrikes also killed neutralised eight Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists and destroyed two gun trucks concealed in the Yebi general area of Borno State.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the air interdiction in Sambisa Forest was conducted on September 15 following credible intelligence received from the Watchkeeper platform.
He explained that the intelligence revealed that terrorists had gathered at Bula Madibale, prompting the deployment of a force package to the location at about 2:25 p.m.
“Overhead the area, the crew observed multiple network footpaths leading to suspected terrorists’ enclaves, with a flag hoisted near a meeting point under a tree.
“The aircraft acquired and engaged the target. The strike neutralised over 20 terrorists while others were seen fleeing the location,” he said.
He added that the meeting point and the flag symbolising the terrorists’ presence were destroyed during the operation.
Sources also told Zagazola Makama that the precision strikes in the Yebi general area of Borno State followed a fierce encounter between troops and terrorists along the Baga–Cross Kauwa Main Supply Route on September 15, 2025.
The source explained that ISWAP elements had attempted an ambush on troops near Garin Giwa in the early hours of Monday but were repelled, resulting in the killing of eight terrorists, including two field commanders (Munzirs) and one unit leader (Qaid).
The identified commanders were Modu Dogo Munzir of Dogon Chukun, another unidentified Munzir, and Abu Aisha, a Qaid from Tumbun Mota. Fourteen motorcycles were also abandoned by the fleeing insurgents, while several others escaped with gunshot wounds.
“Following the ground encounter, the Air Component was tasked to pursue the withdrawing terrorists. The aircraft tracked them to their hideouts around Yebi, where two gun trucks and fighters were concealed under thick forest cover,” the source said.
According to the source, the aircraft acquired and engaged the targets in four separate strikes, hitting the terrorists with high accuracy.
“The interdiction destroyed the two gun trucks and neutralised scores of fighters. The aircraft also conducted mop-up operations, taking out additional terrorists who attempted to flee the strike zones,” he added.
The source reaffirmed the military’s resolve to sustain aggressive operations until terrorism is completely defeated in the North-East.
