- The US President referred to the conflict in Ukraine as a “crazy thing”
US President Donald Trump has admitted that settling the Ukrainian crisis may be a more difficult task than settling the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Speaking at a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, President Trump said said a deal for peace in the Middle East is close at hand. After “tens of millions of people have been killed,” there is a chance for an end to the war.
Trump also added that in the meantime, Russia’s war against Ukraine continues, with “7,812 people killed last week,” mostly soldiers.
“It’s crazy – just crazy. I thought this was going to be one of the easy cases. I have a good relationship with Putin (Russian leader Vladimir Putin) and I thought this issue could be settled. I am very disappointed in him because I thought it would be easy to settle, but it turned out to be perhaps even more complicated than the Middle East.
“We’ll see what happens with the Middle East. You know, things are happening with respect to Russia, Ukraine.”
