By Barrister Solomon Dalung

The Comrade-General of the Movement for the Emancipation of Nigeria (MEN), Barrister Solomon Selcap Dalung, today led the Federal Capital Territory leadership of the organization on a solidarity visit to the family of the missing Brigade Commander of the 25 Task Force Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Musa Uba.
It will be recalled that on 15th November 2025, the convoy of Brig. Gen. Musa Uba was ambushed by ISWAP terrorists at Wajiriko village. The gallant officer reportedly manoeuvred his way into safety within the forest where he made contact with the Theatre Commander and disclosed his location. Although a rescue aircraft was mobilized and reached the vicinity, he was allegedly recaptured by terrorists. ISWAP later released a video claiming his execution, but there is yet no verifiable evidence to confirm this tragic claim. Until proof is established, the status of the General remains uncertain.
At the family residence, emotions ran deep. Members of the delegation, alongside his wife and relatives, struggled to hold back tears as MEN delivered messages of sympathy, solidarity, hope, and encouragement. The family remains in dire need of support, prayers, and institutional attention as they navigate the pain of silence and uncertainty surrounding the whereabouts of their loved one.
MEN notes with concern the poor handling of the situation by relevant authorities, especially the Nigerian Army, whose response has left the family abandoned, distressed, and emotionally drained. We find it unacceptable that beyond protocol condolences, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not deemed it necessary to send an official delegation to the grieving family, neither have the First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, wives of Service Chiefs nor female members of the National Assembly paid a courtesy visit to offer solidarity. This silence is worrisome, disappointing and unbecoming of a nation that owes its defenders honour and dignity.
MEN therefore states as follows:
1. The President must issue firm operational directives for the military to either rescue Brig. Gen. Musa Uba dead or alive, and bring closure to his family and the nation.
2. Should recovery efforts fail, MEN demands a symbolic national foreclosure, with full military honours, in recognition of his gallantry and sacrifice.
3. The Federal Government should immediately establish an Educational Trust Fund for the children of fallen military personnel who died in active service.
4. MEN calls on Nigerians, NGOs, religious institutions and well-meaning organisations to stand with families of missing and fallen heroes, offering compassion, financial and emotional support.
Nigeria owes Brig. Gen. Musa Uba, and every soldier who defends the country with their life, honour, gratitude and justice. Ignoring their families is a betrayal of their sacrifice. A nation that fails to honour its heroes risks deterring future service and weakening the moral foundation of patriotism.
May God comfort and strengthen the family of Brig. Gen. Musa Uba. MEN will continue to stand with them until justice, clarity and closure are achieved.
