Bauchi State Sector Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC), RS 12.1, has confirmed the death of nine passengers in a fatal Road Traffic Crash while 10 others were injured.
FRSC Sector Commander, CC Apaji Danladi Boyi, told journalists in his office on Friday that “the fatal crash occured along the Jama’are-Azare on the Kano-Maiduguri Expressway, at about 0620hrs of Friday, claiming the lives of Nine passengers with Ten people seriously injured.”
Apaji Danladi Boyi added that “preliminary finding indicated that the crash involved one commercial vehicle with registration number KTG181ZZ carrying 19 passengers travelling from Gombe to Kano.”
The Sector Commander assured that the cause of the crash was been investigated, stressing however that “it is not unconnected to over speeding, fatigue and lost of control of the vehicle.”
He added that the injured passengers have been conveyed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare for medical attention by men of the Federal Road Safety Corps, while the corpses were deposited at the morgue of same medical facility, waiting for the relatives to come for identification and claim.
Apaji Danladi Boyi stressed that its Operation Zero is going on smoothly across the State, assuring that officers and men of the Corps are monitoring the situation on all the roads in the State.
He appealed to motorists to always abide by the rules and regulations of traffic, reminding them that traffic flow is still heavy as people are now returning to their bases after the Yuletide and New Year holidays.
