General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, on Tuesday pledged robust synergy and support to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Borno/Yobe States Zonal Command towards a mutually beneficial relationship in the actualisation of their mandate in Nigeria’s North East.
Brigadier General Unachukwu, who spoke when the Zonal Controller, Mr Muhammed Idris and his staff officers paid courtesy visit to Headquarters 7 Division in Maimalari Cantonment, disclosed that the Nigerian Army and the NCS share a symbiotic relationship that spans over decades, adding that their roles are key to the existence of Nigeria as a nation.
According to a statement on the visit by 7 Division Spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Haruna Mohammed Sani, the GOC noted that the NCS serves as a key revenue generation agency of the nation that requires inter agency collaboration with the Nigerian Army to assist them succeed in their operations especially in the North East theatre of Operation.

Earlier in his remarks, the Controller NCS Borno/Yobe States Zonal Command, Controller Muhammed Idris, stated that his visit to Headquarters 7 Division was to appreciate the Division while soliciting for more support and collaboration.
He also disclosed that the NCS task in the region was virtually at the border lines and considering the fact that Borno has several International borders affected by the activities of the insurgents, there was the need to strengthen that collaboration with the NA to enable them operate and actualise their mandates.
Highlights of the visit were strategic discussion, presentation of souvenirs, signing of the Division visitor’s book and group photograph.
