The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement by its Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, that it is “closely monitoring the evolving and volatile situation in the Middle East,” stressing that the safety and well-being of Nigerians abroad remain a top priority.

The ministry advised Nigerian nationals in the affected countries to remain vigilant, limit non-essential movement and strictly comply with directives issued by local security authorities.

It also urged citizens to steer clear of areas designated as strategic, military or government installations, warning that such locations could become flashpoints as tensions persist.

“The Nigerian Embassy in Tehran and affected neighbouring Gulf countries are on high alert to provide required consular assistance and facilitate easy communication,” the statement noted.

Nigerians were further encouraged to rely on credible information sources and avoid spreading or acting on unverified reports, especially on social media platforms, stressing the importance of official communication channels for security updates.

The advisory covers countries including Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. Citizens in these countries were urged to exercise heightened vigilance and avoid large gatherings or public demonstrations until stability is restored.

Beyond the immediate safety guidance, the Federal Government called for restraint among parties involved in the conflict.

“The Government of Nigeria wishes to call on parties to the conflict to de-escalate the crisis by returning to the negotiation table for the interests of global peace and coexistence,” the statement read.

The federal government also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting Nigerians abroad while reiterating its support for dialogue and diplomatic solutions to conflicts in the region.
