A source confirmed that eight prospective candidates who were scheduled to sit for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination were among those released.

Commissioner of Police in Benue State, Ifeanyi Enemari, who confirmed the release of the abducted victims in an interview with journalists in Makurdi on Sunday morning, said they were freed earlier in the day and were on their way to Makurdi.

The State Police boss added that a press briefing would be held upon their arrival in order to provide further details.

The abduction occurred on Wednesday around Ikobi, near Otukpo, when armed men attacked a Benue Links commercial bus conveying passengers to the area.
