Ezeugwu, who works at Uwani General Hospital, was reportedly arrested on Monday by officers from the Police Force Headquarters Annex, FCID, Enugu.

Her arrest was earlier disclosed by education technologist, Alex Onyia, in a post on X on Monday, saying: “Joy Ezeugwu has been arrested this morning by a team from Police Force Headquarters Annex, Enugu.”

Giving an update, Onyia, in a follow-up post, said Ezeugwu is at the FCID Enugu responding to allegations contained in a petition filed by the administrator of her former school, Ifeyinwa Peace Okwudu.

According to him, Okwudu is demanding N10 million in damages from the nurse, citing emotional and psychological harm.

According to Onyia: “We are currently at Police Force Headquarters Annex, FCID, Enugu. Joy Ezeugwu is currently writing a statement responding to claims made by Ifeyinwa Peace Okwudu in her petition.

“Ifeyinwa is doing everything to destroy Joy but it will fail. She is demanding N10 million for emotional and psychological damage from Joy Ezeugwu.

“Ifeyinwa Peace Okwudu is such a tyrant and must be dealt with. Oppressing students and staff has become a norm in our institutions and we must dismantle it.”

In late March, nursing student Joy Ezeugwu and trainee Makuochukwu Eze shared video from Uwani General Hospital in Enugu showing dire conditions like swarms of mosquitoes, litter, and failing basics.

Her school, Ezzy International College of Nursing Sciences, suspended her for the post, then its administrator petitioned police for N10 million in damages over emotional harm and data privacy claims.
