A 18-year-old housewife has gone into hiding after attempting to chop off the manhood of her 25-year-old husband in Yobe State.

Consequently, the State Police Command has mounted a  manhunt for her in order to get her own side of the story and what led her to attempting such a crime.

Yobe State Police Spokesperson, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, said in a statement in Damaturu on Saturday that the Command recorded a disturbing case of domestic violence involving grievous bodily harm.

According to him: “On 6th February, 2026, at about 1500 hours, the Potiskum Divisional Police Headquarters received a distress call reporting a violent domestic incident which occurred earlier the same day at about 0100 hours.

“One Khadija Jamilu, aged 18 years, now at large, allegedly attacked her husband, aged 25 years, both of the same address, using a knife and inflicted a deep cut injury on his genital organ.

“Following the report, Police operatives promptly visited the scene and rushed the victim to the State Specialist Hospital, Potiskum, for urgent medical attention.

“He was subsequently referred to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare, where he is currently receiving treatment.

“Efforts are in top gear to arrest the fleeing suspect, while investigation into the case is ongoing.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, strongly condemned the act and emphasized that marriage should be built on mutual respect, understanding, patience, and tolerance.

“He stressed that marriage must never be an avenue for violence, abuse, or humiliation just as he further advised couples and intending spouses to seek proper counseling before and during marriage.

“They are further advised to embrace peaceful dialogue and anger management during conflicts, involve parents, guardians, religious leaders, or trusted mediators when misunderstandings escalate and avoid resolving marital disputes through violence, as it often leads to irreversible consequences.

“The Command also called on community leaders, families, and relevant stakeholders to create awareness among youths on the do’s and don’ts of marriage, conflict resolution, and healthy relationships.

“The Command however assured that it remains committed to the protection of lives and dignity, and will ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice.”
