3 Division Begins 18-day Annual Range Classification Exercise At Miango, On Monday

Headquarters 3 Division (HQ 3 Div) Nigerian Army will on Monday begin its annual 18-day Range Classification Exercise.

The exercise, which lasts from Monday April 20 – Friday May 8, 2026, will hold at the 3 Division Small Arms Range Miango, Plateau State.

According to a statement by Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 3 Division Nigerian Army Lieutenant Colonel Olumide Victor Olukoya, “the annual Range Classification Exercise is a crucial activity designed to evaluate and enhance the marksmanship skills and firing capabilities of the officers and soldiers of the Division.

“The routine exercise is essential for maintaining high standards of proficiency required for personal serving in the Nigerian Army. Accordingly, participant will be utilizing live ammunition during the period, underscoring the importance of safety.”

The statement added that “in view of the above, HQ 3 Div hereby inform the general public, particularly residents of Miango in Bassa Local Government Area, to keep off the Exercise Area.

“While the sound of gunfire may be heard during the aforementioned days, we kindly request you do not panic, as this a planned and controlled military activity.

“in light of this announcement, we urge all media outlet to help disseminate this important information to the public for their awareness and safety.”

The statement urged the media, as part of the promotion of public safety, should help disseminate the information on the range classification range including the possible translation “in local languages to ensure comprehensive understanding within the community.”
