Nigeria records another low COVID-19 figure of 143 new infections on Monday

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Monday reported 143 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country, bringing the nation’s total infections to 54,008.

This is another low number as Nigeria on Sunday reported the lowest COVID-19 new infections of 138 since April 27 when it recorded 64.

NCDC data shows that Nigeria’s low figures on virus cases include 146 on May 12, 148 on May 5, 160 on August 28, 176 on May 16, 182 on May 28, 195 on April 28 and 221 on August 26.

The health agency said on its official Twitter handle that no fatality was recorded on Monday.

The NCDC noted Nigeria has conducted 403,347 COVID-19 sample tests, saying that out of the 54,008 confirmed cases, 41,638 have been treated and discharged, 11,357 are receiving treatment while figure of deaths remained unchanged at 1,013 across the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The health Agency said that the 143 new infections were confirmed from 17 States and FCT with Plateau emerging as the new epicentre of the virus in Nigeria with 35. Others include Kaduna – 21, Lagos – 19, FCT – 13, Ebonyi – 9, Adamawa – 7, Enugu – 7, Katsina 7, Edo – 6, Kwara – 5, Osun 3, Anambra – 2, Kano -2, Niger – 2, Ogun – 2, Benue – 1, Borno – 1 and Sokoto – 1.
