Sit-at-home: Ohanaeze Ndigbo backs IPOB

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Wednesday said it was in total support of the October 1 sit-at-home order issued by IPOB to all Biafrans in the country and in the diaspora.

In a telephone chat with the Vanguard Newspaper, the National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Barrister Uche Achi Okpaga said that there was nothing wrong for people to sit at home provided they are not violating the law of the land.

He stated that such practice was obtainable even outside the country.

“If IPOB said so, we are supporting it. They are our children. We are supporting it since it is not against the law and so far as it is not a violent act.

“It is obtainable anywhere in the world. So, we are totally in support of it”, he insisted.

It would be recalled that the Biafra separatist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) earlier on Wednesday through its Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful asked all Biafrans to sit at home on October 1 when Nigeria would be celebrating her 60th Independence anniversary.

According to Powerful, this is to protest the poor situation of things in Nigeria.
