US Place $7M Bounty on Boko Haram leader, Shekau

The United States Department of State has taken a bold step towards the apprehension of the leader of the murderous terrorist group, Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, as it placed a “juicy” reward of $7m for information that can lead to his arrest.

The $7m bounty, the biggest price reward placed on all the terrorists declared wanted by the United States government, was made on the French version of the official Twitter account of the US State Department Rewards for Justice Program.

The notice provides the contact details for anyone who is interested in collecting the bounty as #Whatsapp: +1 202 975 9195 and #Telegram: @RFJ_Francais_bot.

“Every government and every citizen has a stake in bringing terrorists to justice and in preventing acts of terrorism”, the US State Department said.

The offer is just as Boko Haram terrorists killed four police officers and two civilian vigilante members in an attack on a military base in Northeast, Nigeria’s Borno State.

Sources said that the four were killed Wednesday when Boko Haram terrorists in trucks fitted with machine guns launched a dawn raid on the Army base in Damboa.

The source said: “We lost four mobile policemen and two civilian militia fighting alongside soldiers during the fight with the terrorists.”

Leader of the local vigilante assisting the military, Mr Ibrahim Liman, confirmed the death toll while a local resident, Mr  Modu Malari, said on Wednesday that the terrorists attacked the base with machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades but were forced out from the town by troops after a fierce two-hour battle.

Sources said that more than 50 residents were injured by shrapnels from grenades fired by the terrorists who were spraying bullets into nearby homes.

Damboa lies on the fringe of Boko Haram’s Sambisa Forest stronghold from where the group has launched repeated attacks on villages and military posts.
