Residents of Niger State block Abuja-Kaduna highway to protest kidnappings, general insecurity

Residents of Niger State barricaded the Abuja-Kaduna highway around Gauraka town on Monday morning to protest the incessant kidnapping and general insecurity in the area.

In the process, the protesters set ablaze the headquarters of the Police Division in the general area.

Five days ago, four other residents were abducted. They are still being held by the captors.

The gridlock caused by the protests and barricading of the Abuja-Kaduna highway extended from Niger State to the Zuma Army barracks housing the Command Secondary School, Suleja and the Madalla area in Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a related development, a vehicle conveying some people suspected to be kidnappers was set ablaze around Madalla area of the high way around 11 am on Monday.
