Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases jump to 232, 33 discharged, 5 dead

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday night said that the country has recorded eight new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the total number of infections in the country to 232.

Meanwhile, the African Centre for Disease Control (Africa CDC) says that the 51 member States of the African Union has recorded a total of 8,736 cases, 399 deaths and 747 recoveries.

In a Tweet, the NCDC said that “Eight new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 5 in Lagos, 2 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and 1 in Kaduna State. As at 09:30 pm 5th April there are 232 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria.”

NCDC stated that while 33 COVID-19 patients have been discharged, five of the total number have died.

The updated breakdown of cases by States show Lagos with a commanding lead of 120, FCT – 47, Osun – 22, Oyo – 8, Ogun – 4, Edo – 9, Kaduna – 5, Bauchi – 6, Enugu – 2, Ekiti – 2, Rivers -1, Benue – 1, Akwa Ibom – 5 and 1 in Ondo.
