Buhari has pledged again to end insecurity in the North, says Zamfara State Governor, Matawalle

Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, on Saturday said that President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to end insecurity caused by the Boko Haram/Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorism and banditry in Northern Nigeria.

In a statement he personally signed, Governor Matawalle explained that President Buhari restated this stand during his meeting with Governors from Nigeria’s Northern States who took turns to table their experiences and expectations from the government and efforts at finding lasting solutions.

He said that the Northern Governors are committed to supporting the President’s efforts to end security challenges in the country.

Matawalle therefore appealed to the elites and other politicians, especially from Northern Nigeria, to be united and face the challenges bedevilling the region’s growth and progress.

According to the Governor, “the president assured that he will put an end to the menace and return the region and the country at large to its lost glories.

“It is time for us to end destructions and killings, lets nurture the habits of forgiveness of our wrongs, refrain from divisive tendencies and become united.

“We shall remain focused for the development of the nation and shun political differences irrespective of the party we belong.”

Matawalle appealed to leaders to continue rubbing minds toward proper solutions and developmental path of progress of the nation.

“Leaders must deliberate on solutions, refrain from selfish interests and greed to end unwanted killings and destruction of property.”

“Insurgency, especially in the Northeast and other banditry activities, have hindered economic activities, education, agriculture and other social activities in northern Nigeria,” he said.
