2 Kidnappers killed by vigilantes while collecting ransom payment

Two kidnappers have been shot dead while collecting ransom in Sabongida town, Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.

The two men had been accused of terrorizing and killing many people in Borno-Korokoro,Tella, Sabongida, Dananacha and other surrounding villages as well as along Jalingo–Wukari road, all in Taraba State.

The kidnappers, identified as Sani and Musa, had earlier abducted an elderly man identified as Alhaji Gambo, instructing his family to bring the ransom money to a designated location.

A source confirmed that the family alerted the local vigilantes who deployed in the area in ambush formation.

The source noted that the kidnappers, who were heavily armed, arrived the location. But unknown to them, that the vigilantes were around and gunned the two men down as they were about picking the ransom money.

The abducted elderly man, who was brought to the designated area, was rescued by the vigilante group.

Taraba State Police Spokesperson, ASP Abdullahi Usman, confirmed the killing of the two kidnappers but did not go into details.
