Buhari’s hometown back into lockdown after 3 new cases of COVID-19

Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, says that President Muhammadu Buhari’s hometown, Daura, will jerk back into lockdown mode following the discovery of three fresh cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the State.

Governor Masari had ordered partial relaxation of the lockdown order on religious activities, particularly Friday Jumaat prayers and Sunday services. However, the Governor said that the Jumaat and Sunday services “would be observed under strict health and security guidelines.” But with the new order, the Sunday services would not hold.

The three new positive cases were among the 23 people who had contact with the State’s index case that died recently.

The index case, a medical doctor, Dr Aliyu Yakubu, had already had his clinic, Daura Clinics and Medical Centre, along Daura-Zango Road, sealed.

Katsina State Governor, Masari, who made the development public disclosed that a total of 23 samples were sent for testing after the death of index case and that three, including his wife and 2 of his children turned up positive.

According to the Governor, “already, the patients are being evacuated to an isolation centre located at the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina for treatment.”

Masari told journalists on Friday that the lockdown will commence from 7am on Saturday morning
