Fresh crisis erupts in Jos, Plateau State as North Central Terrorists kill over 35, destroy houses

Over 35 people have been killed and several houses destroyed at Yelwan Zangam community, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, Northcentral Nigeria.

Sources said that the North Central Terrorists invaded the community around 9pm on Tuesday, burning houses and shooting anyone on sight.

They had earlier disabled the bridge leading to Naraguta community, preventing any access to help before launching the attacks.

Coming just 10 days after 27 travelers were killed in Gada-biyu – Rukuba road, still in Jos North LGA, residents alleged it was a reprisal attack.

There is no way yet the casualty figures can be independently verified. And Plateau State Police Command Spokesperson, Gabriel Ubah, confirmed the incident, saying, “we are aware of an incident in the area, I will brief later.”

Sources said that the attack happened hours after Headquarters 3 Division of Nigerian Army and Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a multi security Task Force maintaining peace in Plateau and some parts of Bauchi and Kaduna alleged a plot by some merchants to perpetrate unrest in Jos and its environs.
