ISWAP terrorists invade Mallam Fatori, Lake Chad Basin area, attacks Army base

The Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on Thursday invaded Mallam Fatori, Borno State Northeast Nigeria.

Sources said that the terrorists have focused the location of the Nigerian Army base as the epicentre of their hostilities.

Mallam Fatori, in Abadam Local Government Area of Northern Borno State, is located in the Lake Chad Basin area near the border with Niger Republic and Chad.

It is an area that has witnessed consistent ISWAP attacks which escalated in September 2016 when the terrorists invaded the community.

Though details of the ISWAP attacks is sketchy, sources said that they appear to be armed with standard weapons sush as  PKM/Type 80 pattern GPMGs, Type 85 HMG, RPG-7 Launcher with PG-7V pattern rocket & PG-7M rockets and AKM/Type 56 pattern rifles.
