Nigeria: Terrorists in Kaduna State kill 5 vigilantes, release 7 family members of Kajuru Emir, after 2 months in captivity

Terrorists operating in Kaduna State on Tuesday evening killed five members of a vigilance group along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway in ambush.

Liman Husaini Udawa, a community leader, who confirmed that the attack took place around 5:30 pm on Tuesday, said they were attacked near Unguwar Yako as they were returning from Kaduna when the incident happened.

“They were ambushed and their vehicle was set ablaze near unguwar Yako along the highway by the bandits. As we speak we recovered five bodies of our vigilantes three escaped,” he said.

The five vigilante members were buried at Udawa town in Chikun Local Government Area of the Kaduna State.

Meanwhile, the seven family members of Alhaji Alhassan Adamu, the Emir of Kajuru, who regained freedom after two months in captivity were released on Wednesday after an undisclosed ransom payment.

Among those released are three women, three male and an infant. ‎

The terrorists had on July 11, 2021 invaded the Emir’s palace, abducting him and 12 others.

But the Emir was released 24 hours after the abduction.

But the Dan Iyan Kajuru, Saidu Musa, said that that while the Emirate is happy about the release of the seven, the Emir’s children and grandchildren are still being held by the terrorists in captivity.

The monarch had shed tears publicly when his subject welcomed him shortly after his release.
