Nigerian troops foil Boko Haram/ISWAP attack on Kala, Damboa LGA, Borno State

Nigerian troops on Friday morning foiled a Boko Haram/Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists attack in Damboa Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State, Northeast Nigeria.

Sources confirmed that the terrorists had stormed the Kala community, near Damboa town, headquarters of the LGA around 6.30am on Friday morning, shooting sporadically.

The invasion of the terrorists had created panic in Damboa area but troops of the Nigerian Army engaged them in a heavy gun battle, forcing them to retreat.

However, sources disclosed that about eight residents sustained gunshot wounds at Kala village, near Damboa town.

Earlier, on October 30, Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists had stormed Damboa LGA of Borno State, killing two Mobile Policemen (Mopol) and setting their head office located in the town ablaze with three operational vehicles.

The attack was met with heavy resistance by the Mobile Police who engaged the terrorists in a gun battle. The assailants, who stormed the community in eight gun trucks, overpowered the security personnel and killed two of them in the ensuing shootout.
