Nigeria: Army Foils Boko Haram/ISWAP Attempted Invasion of Buratai, Former COAS Hometown

Nigerian Army troops have foiled Boko Haram/Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists invasion of Buratai, the hometown of the former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai.

Buratai is located about 110 kilometres South of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

Sources confirmed that the terrorists were forced to flee during a gun battle with the military who intercepted them near Buratai on Monday.

There was hours of heavy firing and fighting as military patrol vehicles moved toward the general area of the terrorists’ attack even as the afternoon ebbs.
