Nigeria: Terrorists Kill 37, Abduct 50 in Attacks on Zamfara, Katsina States

Terrorists have killed about 37 people in separate attacks on communities in Zamfara and Katsina states.

Sources confirmed that at least, 20 people were killed in communities in Bungudu and Tsafe Local Government Areas (LGA) of Zamfara State.

The source noted that terrorists, riding in about 100 motorbikes, invaded Yar Katsina Village in Bungudu LGA overnment Area when the residents were observing Juma’at prayer and killed at least 10 people.

The terrorists also abducted about 50 others.

A resident said the casualty figure would have been more if not that the local vigilantes otherwise known as Yan Sakai stood firmly and defended the community.

A resident in Magami identified as Babangida said the terrorists were spotted moving towards the Dandundun area.

The terrorists also attacked Nasarawa Mai fara in Tsafe Local Government Area where they killed another 10 people.

Residents said the community was attacked after the residents failed to redeem the N40 million levy slammed on them.

A source confirmed that residents of the Rijiya district of Gusau LGA have also fled their communities to escape the wrath of the terrorists’ group.

However, as is now the case these days, the Spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command, ASP Muhammad Shehu could not be immediately reached for comments on the attacks.

The terrorists also attacked Karfi Ward in Malumfashi LGA of Katsina State where they reportedly killed 17 people on Friday night.

A member representing the local government council at the state house of assembly, Aminu Ibrahim Saidu, who confirmed the incident, said he had visited the areas and sympathised with the families over the attack.
