…pays April salary

By Taofeek Lawal

Oyo State Government has confirmed the resumption of its workers as parts of efforts to bring life back to the economic activities of the government. The state has been under partial lockdown in the past few weeks to forestall the spread of Covid-19 pandemic ravaging Nigeria and the world at large.

A very reliable source in the Government House who would not want his name in print confirmed the resumption of 3,000 senior workers today at the state’s secretariat Agodi, Ibadan. The source in a telephone chat with Global Upfront Newspapers (GUN) said workers from Level 13 and above resumed work and have been charged by Governor Seyi Makinde to give their best.

“Yes, I can tell you that the senior workers resumed work today (Monday, April 27, 2020). Those who resumed are workers from Level 13 upward and Governor Seyi Makinde charged them to be up and doing in the discharge of their duties. Let me also tell you that security has been beefed up at the secretariat to guard against Covid-19 because the safety of our workers is very important to the government. We place high premium on the fight against Covid-19 in Oyo State.”

“Those workers who resumed are 3,000 senior workers out of the 20,000 in the state. It will also interest you know that Governor Makinde has paid the salary of all categories of workers in the state for the month of April. The salaries were paid on the 24th of the month. This is to tell you the government cares about the welfare of the workers especially in this time of Covid-19 pandemic.”
