- The Rivers Governor touts his courage and resources to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress from power
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Sunday joined a growing list of presidential contenders in 2023.
Wike, who announced his bid when he visited Makurdi on Sunday and held talks with some delegates of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said he has the courage and resources to dislodge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from power at the ballot box.
His disclosure comes barely days after Aminu Tambuwal, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi declared their interests in the presidential ticket of the main opposition party.
According to Wike, “to remove APC from power, I’m the person who can tell them enough is enough,” Mr Wike said. “We must take this power and I’m ready to take it for PDP. God is with us that’s why APC keeps failing every day.”
His announcement came as he launched attacks on some elements within the party, including Raymond Dokpesi and Governor Godwin Obaseki, accusing them and some PDP politicians of not funding the party as he had done over the years.
,Wike therefore claims that he has more say within the party than many other members, especially those who had left to join other parties at one time or another or who just joined the party.
