Pakistan National Zubair Granted Bail For Attacking Nigerian Woman, Mrs Kofoworola

A Pakistan national, Muhammed Zubair, has been arraigned and granted bail by Magistrate K.A. Ariyo at Magistrate Court 10, Ogba, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

Zubair was arraigned for allegedly attacking Mrs. Nnaemeka Kofoworola on the 17th December, 2021 at No. 7/11 Egbe Road, Ikotun.

In a petition written by Kofoworola dated 21st of December, 2021 against Zubair to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), the petitioner alleged that the accused had been bullying and calling her unprintable names.

She alleged that Zubair physically assaulted her for daring to talk back to him.

On receipt of the petition, the CP directed Human Rights Resource Centre, Lagos State Police Command to investigate the allegation which took nearly three months for the investigation to be concluded and the CP upon findings directed that Zubair be charged to court.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Christopher John told the court that the offence is contrary to section 171 (2) and punishable under section 172 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria,// 2015.

The one-count charge reads: “that you Muhammed Zubair “M” on 17th December, 2021 at about 1430hrs at No. 7/11 Egbe Road, Ikotun Lagos, in Lagos Magisterial District did unlawfully assault one Mrs. Nnaemeka Kofoworola ‘F’ by throwing fishing line plastic to hit her right hand and thereby committed an offence.”

The case was adjourned to 26th of April, 2022 for mention.
