Nigeria’s COVID-19 infections jump by 220 to 2,388

Nigeria’s Coronavirus (COVID-19) rate of infections continues its upward swing with a total of 2,388, with a daily record of 220 new cases on Saturday.

A total of 17 new deaths were also recorded on Saturday, bringing the total to 85.

In addition, a total of 385 persons were recovered and discharged.

The new cases, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), spread across 18 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with Lagos on top of the list.

However, only two new cases were recorded from from Kano State, which is emerging as the new epicentre of COVID-19 infections in Nigeria. On Friday alone, it recorded a total of 92 new cases.

The breakdown of the 220 new cases of across Nigeria are as follows:

62-Lagos, 52-FCT, 31-Kaduna, 13-Sokoto, 10-Kebbi, 9-Yobe, 6-Borno, 5-Edo, 5-Bauchi, 4-Gombe, 4-Enugu, 4-Oyo, 3-Zamfara, 2-Nasarawa, 2-Osun, 2-Ebonyi, 2-Kwara, 2-Kano, 2-Plateau.
