Nigeria: Pirates Abduct Naval Seaman, 12 Others Along Oron-Calabar Waterway

Pirates have abducted a Nigerian Navy Seaman along with 12 other passengers along the Oron-Calabar waterway, Cross River State.

Sources confirmed that that Seaman Adamu S was abducted on Tuesday evening onboard a commercial boat, MAN ORON, as he was returning to Oron from Calabar after the completion of the Junior Rates PAE 2022.

Since the abduction, no information has been heard from his abductors.

According to the source, “on Tue 21 Jun 22 at about 1815, Sm Adamu S X14463 was abducted in a commercial boat while enroute Oron from Calabar.

“The Rating serving onboard MAN ORON was returning to Oron from Calabar after the completion of the Junior Rates PAE 2022.

“It was discovered that the driver of the 115hp engine speedboat with 13 passengers onboard jumped out of the boat on sighting the sea robbers and hid within the swamp.

“The sea robbers on a white speed boat with 200hp engine searched the commercial boat, discovered a Navy personnel among the passengers and took the remaining 12 passengers to Iniamen fishing port while abducting Sm Adamu S. No info has been received from the abductors since then.”
