Chelsea are prepared to strike a deal worth up to £60m for Anthony Gordon as they continue to test Everton’s resolve to hang on to the winger.
Chelsea are willing to offer Everton a package comprising a guaranteed £50m with a further £10m in add-ons for the 21 year-old who has emerged as one of their leading targets in the remainder of this transfer window.
Chelsea’s latest approach is one that is understood to have left the two clubs closer to an agreement and the Londoners’ hopes of landing their man growing after Everton knocked back a string of previous proposals.
Everton wanted a fee in excess of £50m for England under-21 attacker Gordon who wants to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
Everton have dug their heels in amid Chelsea increasing offers having also fended off interest from Tottenham and Newcastle earlier in the summer window.
The Toffees have already knocked back four Chelsea approaches.
A move to Chelsea will hand Gordon the chance to play Champions League football and boost his England prospects.
Gordon has represented England from under 18 through to under-21 level. He broke into Lee Carsley’s side last November and scored four times in just seven under-21 appearances.
