COVID-19 takes its deadliest single day death toll of 15 in Nigeria, four in FCT

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday continued its steady high figures of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) with 248 new confirmed cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 4,399.

The NCDC also announced that 33 recoveries and 15 deaths recorded in Nigeria all through Sunday.

The death was the highest single day toll so far, bringing the total recorded number of deaths through the virus to 143.

In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), it registered the single deadliest death toll of four out of the 15 nationally. Altogether the total death toll from COVID-19 in the FCT is eight.

Also, in the FCT, seven Coronavirus patients who recovered from the virus were discharged on Sunday.

The NCDC, in its official Twitter handle, recorded “248 new cases of #COVID19; 81-Lagos, 35-Jigawa, 26-Borno, 26-Kano, 20-Bauchi, 13-FCT, 12-Edo, 10-Sokoto, 7-Zamfara, 4-Kwara, 4-Kebbi, 2-Gombe, 2-Taraba, 2-Ogun, 2-Ekiti, 1-Osun, 1-Bayelsa.

“As at 11: 45 pm May 10th 2020, there are 4,399 cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria with 778 Discharged and 143 Deaths. As of May 10th 2020, 34 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Nigeria have recorded at least one confirmed case of COVID-19.”

The only two States with no record of any COVID-19 infections are Kogi and Cross River States, where the Governors has been resisting the implementation of massive testing of the residents.

Generally, the breakdown of confirmed cases by States shows that as of May 10, Lagos State has 1,845, FCT-356, Kano-597, Ogun-117, Osun-37, Gombe-110, Katsina-156, Borno- 185 and Edo-79.

Others include Oyo-64, Kwara-32, Akwa Ibom-17, Bauchi-181, Kaduna-98, Ekiti-15, Ondo-15, Delta-17, Rivers-21, Jigawa-116, Enugu-6, Niger-6, Abia-2, Zamfara-72, Sokoto-106, Benue-2, Anambra-1, Adamawa-17, Plateau-15, Imo-3, Taraba 17, Bayelsa 6, Ebonyi 5, Kebbi 14, Nasarawa-26, Yobe 4.
