Nigeria record 242 new cases of COVID-19, total now 4,642

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says that Nigeria recorded 242 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 4,642.

Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos, maintains the leading position as the epicentre of COVID-19 infections in the country with 88 new cases, followed by Kano State which recorded 64 and Kastina with 49 new cases.

The NCDC via its Twitter handle that “242 new cases of #COVID19; 88-Lagos, 64-Kano, 49-Katsina, 13-Kaduna, 9-Ogun, 6-Gombe, 4-Adamawa, 3-FCT, 1-Ondo, 1-Oyo, 1–Rivers, 1-Zamfara, 1-Borno, 1-Bauchi. 4,641 cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria. Discharged: 902 and Deaths: 150.”

NCDC, in the tweet, also corrected an oversight, “on the 10th of April 2020, we erroneously announced 2 new deaths in Nasarawa. There was 1 death in Nasarawa (State) reported on the 10th of April. We apologise to the State Government for this error, and remain committed to providing accurate data.”
