Update – Killings in Kaduna: Buhari condemns reprisal attacks involving herdsmen, 15 killed, 5 injured

By Raphael Izokpu

President Muhammadu Buhari has again condemned the latest attacks by herdsmen bandits on Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State in which 15 persons were killed and five others injured.

On Monday, the armed herdsmen, who were allegedly on a reprisal attack on the mainly Christian communities in Kajuru located in the Southern part of Kaduna State, killed mainly women and children.

President Buhari however warned against counter-attacks among the Fulani and Addara communities in Kajuru Local Government Area of the State.

Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, said in series of tweets via his verified Twitter handle that “@MBuhari has again condemned the wave of attacks and counterattacks on people among the Fulani and Addara communities in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, saying that killing in the name of revenge is wrong.”

Shehu quoted Buhari as saying: “Killing people in the name of revenge is not acceptable. The recourse to self-help, instead of the law of the land, is the real cause of the killings and counter killings between the two communities.”

The President warned that no person has the right to take the law in his or her own hands
