Gunmen Abduct 8 In Kuje, Abuja, Demand N25 Million Ransom

Gunmen have abducted eight persons at Anguwar Hausawa in Kwakwu community in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

A resident, Garba Salihu, said, “At about 11pm on Saturday I started hearing gunshots in my neighbour’s house. I suspected they were kidnappers so I abandoned my room and hid in the bathroom.”

He said some of the gunmen positioned themselves at strategic places within the community and started shooting sporadically into the air while leading their victims out of the community.

According to him, some armed gang also cordoned off the police out post in the community, while shooting into the air to scare the police men from engaging them.

Another resident, Shehu Aliyu, said two members of his family were abducted and that the gunmen were demanding a N25 million ransom.

He said, “In fact, it was on Monday around 11am when the leader of the gunmen called through the phone of one of the victims and demanded N25m for the eight abducted victims.”

City & Crime gathered that six persons were abducted in the community a few weeks ago and that they were released after their abductors collected N6m.

Spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, DSP Adeh Josephine, was yet to respond to the latest kidnap incident as at the time of fi ling this report.
