Peter Obi May Be Arrested In Moves To Silence Obidients Movement

By Madu Onuorah

There are underhand moves by Nigeria’s anti-democratic forces to silence the Obidients Movement by arresting their leader and Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, over some cook-up allegations.

This move heightened since the filing of Obi’s case at the Presidential Election Tribunal demanding that he be declared the winner and that the declared President-Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ought not to have been on the ballot in the first place and should be disqualified.

Global Upfront Newspapers (GUN) was informed of series of allegations being cooked to be placed on Obi’s head to enable them to arrest and prosecute him.

The ruling party camp that is trying to engineer the arrest believes that if allowed to move about and talk, he would be a huge threat and public opinion influencer against the declared President-elect and the ruling party ahead of the planned May 29, 2023 inauguration.

A source close to the Labour Party flag bearer said he has been receiving warnings from his friends about the impending arrest but told them he has not committed any offense and will not commit any to warrant his arrest.

Just as the feeling was dying down and as part of the orchestrated plan, one of the Media Spokespersons to the APC Presidential candidate, Festus Keyamo, on Thursday addressed a petition he claimed he wrote in his personal capacity as a citizen advocate to the Department of the State Security (DSS) calling for the arrest of both the Presidential candidate and his Vice Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmad.

According to him, he wants the DSS to “invite/arrest, interrogate and after investigation, if necessary, charge both individuals to court for their conducts which amount to incitement and treasonable felony”

Our source confirmed that Obi, his running mate Datti Baba-Yusuf and their families will soon be harassed to silence towards quenching the potential they possess.

Obi or his Vice Datti could not be reached but a source in their Media Office said their principals are not under any threat because they have not committed any offence.

On silencing the Obidients Movement, the source said it’s not possible because Obi is just a symbol of the mass movement and that the group has already gone beyond him as a person.
