Plateau State: Jengre Women Protest Alleged Killing Of Youth Leader By Special Task Force Personnel, Demand Justice

Amo Women In Jengre Community, Bassa Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State trooped out in their hundreds on Wednesday to protest the alleged killing of the Youth leader of the community, Audu Bako, by personnel of the multi-agency Special Task Force (STF) in the area, demanding for justice.

The women embarked on the peaceful demonstration and went round Jengre town, expressing displeasure over what they described as wanton killing aimed at silencing the voice of the voiceless in the area. 

Meanwhile, Amo people have been thrown into mourning following the demise of Mr. Audu Bako, Jengre Youths leader and a pillar in the community.

The said sad and unfortunate incident occurred on the 8th May, 2023 shortly after he was released from detention for reasons the community said it was still investigating.

In a statement on Wednesday by Micah Micah Junior, National Secretary for Amo Youths (AMONYA) on behalf of Dr. Gugu Musa, National President and released in Bauchi, the group sympathised with the family, friends and Amo nation over the great loss at a time when his contributions were needed the most. 

According to the statement, “from the very moment the sad news was announced, the leadership of Amo Youths (AMONYA) and that of the mother body (AMONDA) swung into action by setting up modalities for investigations into the cause of his arrest and detention.

“The leadership of Amo Nation have since written a petition to the STF Commander, Jos, Plateau State demanding the immediate disclosure and investigation of officers who brutalised and manhandled late. Mr. Audu Bako, Jengre Youths Leader.  

“We call for calm and restraint in comments and speeches as the leadership of Amo at all levels have been on top of the situation seeking for justice.”

The statement added: “If you have further information and advice, do not hesitate to contact the leadership of AMONYA or AMONDA with your suggestions and advice. Justice must be served to every citizen of this great Nation and Amo people are not an exception.”
