DSS Operatives Defies Court, Beat Up, Overpower Prisons Official In Scuffle For Emefiele’s Custody (Pictures)

Heavily armed Department of State Services (DSS) officials engaged in a free for all fight with Nigeria Correctional Services (NCS) official over custody of the suspended former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.

An unidentified highly-ranking NCS has been seriously beaten up and arrested by DSS officials who have mobilised more men to counter the attempt by prison authorities to take custody of Emefiele.

The NCS top official is from Ikoyi Prisons and the scuffle took place on the premises of Federal High Court in Lagos State.

Moments before the fight broke out, the Prison authorities had mobilised more men to take custody of Emefiele as ordered by the court.

Lawyers and journalists covering the matter scampered to safety to avoid being beaten by the DSS officials who have now positioned their men in strategic positions in the court premises to prevent Emefiele from being taken out of the court.

Emefiele was arraigned by the Federal Ministry of Justice for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition but was granted bail in the sum of N20m with one surety, following his “not guilty” plea.

As the defendant’s lawyers were trying to perfect his bail conditions, a mild drama played out within the court premises between DSS operatives who are fully hooded and NCS over who will take custody of the embattled CBN boss.
